Q: I've read your knowledge base article "article-145.html". It's not clear to me whether the device simply calculates the warm-up time needed on a specific day as a running average of recent performance, or whether it also takes into account the sensed actual temperature at the particular time. There may have been an unusual frost overnight, or I might have earlier kept the heat up for a late night session, for instance.
A: The thermostat basically learns how much time it takes to raise your home by 1C. It learns this by using previous activity and automatically learns over time whether it is getting to temperature on time or too late. For example, if you have had cavity wall or double glazing installed, the thermostat will recalculate the "heat up" time.
As the thermostat knows how long it takes to heat the home by 1C, it will control the turn on time to take into account changs such as those that you mention.
